Team Titan's Sam Trickett Wins European Player of the Year Award

Last night Sam Trickett won the Player of the Year award at the 11th annual European Poker Awards ceremony in Paris. This is recognition Sam deserves after his huge successes at the tournament and cash game tables during 2011.

Sam Trickett is poker player of the year for 2011. It wasn't an easy task to win this award.

Sam’s competition in the category included some of the biggest names in European poker: Jake Cody (England); Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier (France); Pius Heinz (Germany); Eugene Katchalov (Ukraine); and Andrey Pateychuk (Russia).

Sam, who is currently in Australia playing the tournaments of the Aussie Millions, will receive a unique trophy in the form of golden spade.

Sam was also nominated in the Best Tournament Performance category, an award claimed by Pius Heinz for winning the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event.

Other winners were: Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier won the Rob Gardner Memorial Award for the Poker Personality of 2011; Andrey Pateychuk was recognized as Rookie of the Year; and Russian Natalia Nikitina was chosen as Europe’s Leading Poker Lady.

The European Poker Awards each year recognizes the best Europeans poker pros and newcomers, as well as the people involved in running the poker industry. Its jury is composed of some of the top names in European poker and avid poker fans participated in the online voting.
