Sam Trickett as Breakout Player of the Year

Team Titan’s Sam Trickett is a candidate for the Breakout Performer of the Year in the seventh annual Bluff Magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards, and the voting is taking place now.  The other candidates in the category are Galen Hall, Chris Moorman, Ben Lamb, Matthew Waxman, and Elio Fox.

There are a total of 13 categories in this year’s Reader’s Choice Awards. “Every year we look to improve upon the categories and I think this year we’ve done that,” said Lance Bradley, Bluff’s Editor in Chief.

Winners will be announced on BluffMagazine.com on Wednesday, January 11 and be featured in the March issue of Bluff.

In addition, Sam is up for two European Poker Awards this year, both Player of the Year and Best Tournament Performance. In both categories, Sam is competing against formidable competition including German Pius Heinz, winner of the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event.

The winners of the European Poker Awards will be announced during the annual Euro Finals of Poker at the Aviation Club de France in Paris on January 25^th, 2012.

Sam was short-listed last year as one of four candidates for the 2010 European Player of the Year Award, but he lost the title to fellow Brit Jake Cody.

The PokerNews website included Sam in its article on the Breakout Poker Players of 2011. Noting Sam’s massive winnings in 2011 and his tournament titles in Australia and at the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event, the website stated unequivocally, “If we had to pick one single winner for ‘Breakout Player of the Year,’ it'd be Trickett hands down.”
